Your location — the important part

MyQibla only uses your location when you tap “Use My Location”, and only after your browser asks for your permission and you allow it. If you deny permission, nothing is shared and you can still use the city search and popular-city buttons.

  • Your coordinates are used in your browser, on this page, to calculate your Qibla direction and the distance to the Kaaba.
  • To confirm the bearing, your coordinates are sent once to the Aladhan Qibla API (api.aladhan.com), a free Islamic calculation service. This is a technical request needed to return your direction.
  • If you use the live compass, your device's orientation sensor is read locally in your browser. That sensor data never leaves your device.
  • We do not store your location on any server, build a history of where you have been, or sell or share location data with advertisers.
  • You can withdraw location permission at any time in your browser's site settings.

City search

When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to the free Nominatim geocoding service (nominatim.openstreetmap.org, part of OpenStreetMap) to find that place's coordinates. We do not attach your identity to the search.

Accounts and tracking

MyQibla has no accounts, no sign-up and no newsletter. We do not run our own analytics or advertising trackers on this site. The site is served by our hosting provider, which may keep standard technical server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability, as almost all hosts do.

Cookies

This site does not set cookies of its own. If you follow a link to Amazon, Amazon's own cookies and privacy policy apply on their site.
