About MyQibla

A simple, free tool that helps Muslims anywhere in the world face the Kaaba in prayer — accurately, privately, and in seconds.

Why we built it

Every Muslim needs the Qibla direction several times a day, yet finding it away from home — in a hotel, an office, a park or a new city — can be surprisingly awkward. MyQibla was made to remove that friction: open the page, tap one button, and you have your direction. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

How the direction is calculated

The Qibla is the direction of the Kaaba in Makkah (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E) along the shortest path over the Earth's surface — the great-circle route. MyQibla takes your latitude and longitude, confirms the bearing with the free Aladhan Qibla service, and cross-checks it with the standard great-circle formula in your browser. The distance we show is the haversine great-circle distance between you and the Kaaba.

All bearings are given clockwise from true North. A phone's live compass can drift near metal, cars and magnets, so for important settings it is worth cross-checking your bearing figure once with a second method — the number in degrees never changes for a given place.

Private by design

Your location is only ever used in your own browser, at the moment you ask for it, to work out your Qibla. We do not store it, track it or sell it. The full details are on our Privacy page.

About the recommendations

Some pages show a small number of prayer-related products (such as prayer mats and tasbeeh beads) with links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases — at no extra cost to you. This helps keep MyQibla free for everyone.
